Walmart now offers Idaho Potato Milkshake & Fries ice cream nationwide

Idaho Potato Malted Milkshake and Fries Ice Cream Now Sold NATIONWIDE at Walmart

Eagle, ID, September 1, 2023 – The Idaho Potato Commission’s (IPC) BB #:162339 popular Idaho Potato Malted Milkshake and Fries ice cream, created in partnership with Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, is now one of eight fall flavors sold exclusively at 3,500 Walmart BB #:143789 locations nationwide starting September 1.

On February 23, Van Leeuwen launched the signature flavor in their Los Angeles and New York scoop shops to celebrate Potato Lover’s Month. It was also available online for a limited time.

“Based on how quickly the ice cream sold out in February, I’m not surprised Walmart selected Idaho Potato Malted Milkshake and Fries to be one of its featured fall flavors,” said Jamey Higham, President and CEO, IPC. “We’re thrilled because Walmart is already one of our biggest retail partners, and this means more folks around the country will be able to try it.”

Malted Milkshake and Fries tastes just as it reads: salty, crispy French fries dipped in a creamy malted shake. To best emulate the taste of fresh fries, Van Leeuwen’s in-house pastry team created French fry inserts using Idaho potato flakes.

The flavor pairing is so popular that an early 2023 survey revealed it edged out chicken and waffles and biscuits and gravy as one of America’s favorite duos.

Seven other flavors will be hitting the Walmart shelves at the same time: Honey Cornbread With Strawberry Jam, Sweet Potato Casserole and Pumpkin Cinnamon Roll. New flavors include Cranberry Crumble, Apple Pie, Purple Velvet, and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Pints of Malted Milkshake and Fries and the other seven fall flavors will be available to purchase for $4.98. This limited release is available through October 31, 2023.

About The Idaho Potato Commission

Established in 1937, the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) is a state agency responsible for promoting and protecting the famous “Grown in Idaho” seal, a federally registered certification mark that assures consumers are purchasing genuine, top-quality Idaho potatoes. Idaho’s growing season of warm days and cool nights, ample mountain-fed irrigation and rich volcanic soil, give Idaho potatoes their unique texture, taste and dependable performance. These ideal growing conditions are what differentiates them from potatoes grown in other states. For more information, visit idahopotato.com.
