WP Produce to debut Desbry fruits at CPMA

WP Produce To Introduce Its Desbry Tropical and Exotic Fruits During Its First CPMA

Brand among Fresh From Florida Exhibitors with SUSTA

Miami, FL WP Produce, BB #:143203 a Miami-based and family-owned grower, packer, and shipper of Desbry brand tropical fruits and roots—will showcase its commodities offerings during the Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) Convention and Trade Show.

WP Produce joins Fresh From Florida and the Southern United States Trade Association (SUSTA) at booth 1429, as a first-time exhibitor.

WP Produce will feature their exclusive Desbry Tropical Avocado, a larger-sized variety that is slower to oxidize; Mango, offering year-round varieties; Guava, a WP exclusive, that can only be U.S. sourced from Florida; Manzano and Burro Bananas; and other exotic fruits from Florida including Dragon Fruit and Star Fruit.

As estimated by the International Trade Administration, two-thirds of all produce consumed in Canada is imported, and growing consumer demand for items like mangoes and other fresh fruit with limited production is driving demand for U.S. fruits. According to Nielsen Research, Canadians spend 20% more than U.S. consumers on fruit presenting a viable market for SUSTA to facilitate agricultural trade between small to medium-sized southern U.S. companies and Canadian importers.

“With our Desbry fruits and roots grown in tropical climates, we can source a wide variety of commodities year-round to help meet customer demand within the Canadian market for familiar tropical fruits as well as other fruits that are exotic to Canadian cuisine,” shares Desiree Pardo Morales, VP of WP Produce and founder of direct to consumer sister company Tropical Fruit Box. “This is a great opportunity for WP Produce and our Desbry brand to expand our involvement with one of the largest trading relationships in the world.”

Among popular fruits, the Canada Avocado Market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.01% to reach US$140.27 million by 2027, from US$99.642 million in 2020. WP Produce, a year-round supplier of Desbry Tropical Avocados from Florida and the Dominican Republic to both the U.S. and Canadian markets is in preparation for a bountiful U.S. grown avocado season starting May and running through October.

Adds Christopher Gonzalez, VP of Sales, “We are excited to introduce our Desbry tropical and exotic fruits during our first CPMA where we can meet with current and new customers to help deliver on market demand. Together with retailers, we can achieve sales growth by combining our category expertise with their shopper segments’ predisposition for certain tropical and exotic fruit varieties.”

Committed to product line diversity for the end-user and innovative packaging for customers, WP Produce sources from the growers that have the best quality for that specific commodity and boasts an efficient supply chain for consistent inventory year-round. Desbry brand tropical and exotic fruits and roots come in shelf-extending packaging from the shipping container to retail delivery for high-quality customer supply.

WP Produce founder, Willy Pardo, started the company in 1984 selling exotic and tropical produce to neighbors who could not easily find fruits and roots at their local grocery stores. Today, WP Produce is a full-line purveyor of tropical and exotic items and continues to be family owned and operated with Willy Pardo’s daughter, Desiree Pardo Morales, Vice President, and his nephew, Christopher Gonzalez, Vice President of Sales, focused on expansion of their Desbry branded produce.
