“Last season was one of the more complicated that the fresh fruit exporting sector in our country has experienced, for the same reason, we have been working together with the Ministry of Agriculture, the SAG, the Chinese authorities, our producers and exporters to be able to solve any problem that may arise in this new season, with promptness and coordination. China will continue to be the main destination market for our cherries, but we will continue to diversify our exports to other markets of interest,” says Ivan Marambio, president of ASOEX.

For his part, Cristian Tagle, president of the Cherries Committee, stated, “in general, we have had good weather conditions, so we will have very good quality fruit. As a committee we have thoroughly prepared ourselves in various matters to continue improving the quality and safety of our shipments. Fortunately, we have seen a slight rebound in the performance of the logistics chain, which we hope will be reflected in better condition and confidence for our cherries in the markets.”

Finally, Claudia Soler, manager of the committee indicated that, exports are expected to begin in week 43 and should continue until week 7. She further said that, during the past season, Chile exported 356,348 tons of cherries fresh and, of this amount, China received 313,237 tons.
