Forage, a payments processor that makes it easier for grocers to accept SNAP EBT payments online, announced today that it has raised a $22M Series A funding round to accelerate online grocery access for America’s 42 million SNAP EBT recipients.

Instacart, the leading grocery technology company in North America, today announced that Electronic Benefits Transfer and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (EBT SNAP) can now be used to buy groceries online in 10 additional states – Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming – through the Instacart App and retailers' Instacart Platform-powered e-commerce experiences.

Sprouts Farmers Market, one of the largest and fastest growing specialty retailers of fresh, natural and organic food in the United States, today announced that it will now accept EBT SNAP for same-day delivery and curbside pickup for orders placed via the Instacart website and mobile app.

In the first quarter of 2022, healthy food incentive program redemptions, supported by Snap2Save's technology, exceeded $100,000, and total redemptions since program inception have now passed $400,000.

Families who are eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are less likely to purchase both healthy foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, and sweets when buying groceries online compared to in-store, finds a new study by a team of nutrition researchers.
