Peruvian mango exports break record

From the beginning of the 2022-23 campaign until the end of week 15 of this year (April 9), Peru exported 249,314 tons of fresh mangoes, registering a growth of 7.3 percent compared to the 232,275 tons shipped in the same period of the previous campaign, according to Agraria, using figures from the Peruvian Association of Mango Producers and Exporters (APEM).

APEM highlighted that from the beginning of the campaign until April 15, the main destination market for fresh mangoes from Peru was Europe, where 132,731 tons went, reflecting a drop of 6.3 percent compared to 141,667 tons dispatched in the same period of the previous campaign. This destination accounted for 53 percent of the total.

The second most important destination for fresh Peruvian mango was the U.S., where 92,632 tons were shipped, showing an increase of 42.5 percent compared to the 65,008 tons shipped on the same dates. This market participated with 37 percent of the total.

It is followed by Canada, where 9,982 tons were sent (9,089 tons in the last campaign), and other destinations with 13,969 tons (16,511 tons in the previous campaign).

Regarding frozen mango, from the beginning of the 2022-23 campaign until week 15, Peru exported 40,403 tons, registering a contraction of 23 percent versus the 52,689 tons shipped in the same period of the 2021-22 campaign.
