Ciudad Obregón – Sonora Mexico – Campos Borquez, a premium supplier of year-round organic and regenerative super-foods is proud to announce they have become the first farm in Mexico to obtain the Regenerative Organic Certification (ROC), another milestone for the company.
Farming has played a key role in humanity’s sustainability since the origin of civilization, and Campos Borquez’s CEO, Pablo Borquez shared his view: “My family was part of a group of pioneers in a valley that hosted Dr. Norman Borlaug’s research for the Green Revolution; maximizing yield to have enough food supply for a rapidly growing population was at the core of sustainable farming for my parent’s generation. Times have changed, and I believe that our part in sustainable farming’s history is being defined by the Regenerative Organic Alliance’s vision and guidelines. We feel honored and proud to have obtained the certification and be part of this movement.”
The implementation of regenerative practices involves three main pillars: Soil’s Health, Animal Welfare and Social Fairness. The certification has three levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold, and requires its members to improve with them through the years to maintain the certification.
Sergio Borquez, Pablo’s son and the company’s EVP shares, “with ROC, we seek to continue building into our purpose towards sustainability, but now with a greater focus in taking the company’s organic practices to one that is more proactive and strategic into how much life and organic matter there is in our soil as well as sequestering the atmospheric carbon back into the ground.”
Becoming the first agricultural company to obtain the Regenerative Organic Certificationin Mexico, means this is a big step in the way agriculture is being made in the country.
