The Produce Department of the Future

An end-of-supply chain perspective
Retail Reflections_2017

I would suggest that it is much easier for a buyer to procure produce in CPG [consumer packaged goods] rather than traditional fresh form. The same could be said for store operations as well with the spread of online purchasing—it is much easier to deliver juice than fresh produce items.

So while it’s great to see consumers getting more excited about fruit and vegetable consumption, the form that consumption is taking bears observation. The produce industry has always had something new going on—but what’s “new” today has significant implications on what produce departments will look like tomorrow.
