Although 2020 has been a year like no other, Equitable Food Initiative, the workforce development and training organization that partners with growers, farmworkers, retailers and consumer advocacy groups, continued to grow and prove its unique value to the fresh produce industry.

On its continued path of growth, Equitable Food Initiative, the workforce development and certification organization that partners with growers, farmworkers, retailers and consumer advocacy groups, has hired Karla Cook as certification manager.

To acquire the EFI certification, Misionero received the required leadership and skill development training, as well as an audit by a third-party certifying body. Misionero is currently partnering with its growing partners to bring the first EFI-labeled leafy greens into the marketplace. 

Equitable Food Initiative announced that Alpine Fresh, Inc. has received its third farm certification for its growing operation in Guatemala. Under the new certification, French beans will be available in Costco Wholesale with EFI’s Responsibly Grown, Farmworker Assured label.
