Several familiar names in grocery were prominent on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For 2024 list, and some that may surprise you.
For the umpteeth (actually, it’s 27) time, Rochester, NY-based Wegmans Food Markets BB #:104173 is featured on the list, this year at No. 6.
“There is nothing more important to us than being the best place to work for our people,” said CEO Colleen Wegman, in a news release. “We’re grateful for the many ways our people live our values and create a welcoming place for everyone across our communities.”
The list is created by Great Place to Work, a “global authority on workplace culture” based on confidential employee surveys and “rigorous analytics.” Companies must have at least 1,000 employees in the U.S. to be considered.
Wegmans was the only grocer in the Top 10 of 100 companies chosen this year, but several others in the grocery and produce industry also were mentioned.
