Peruvian ag exports to North America increased 7% in 2023

In 2023, Peruvian agricultural exports to North America experienced positive results in terms of exported value: $4.029 billion, with an increase of 7 percent compared to 2022, according to Agraria.

The main destination of Peruvian agricultural exports in North America was the U.S., which received 85.9 percent of the total, equivalent to $3.497 billion. Mexico followed, with 7.2 percent, with a value of $285 million, and Canada closed with 6.9 percent and $247 million purchased.

The products that were most exported from Peru to North America were grapes, blueberries, asparagus, coffee, and avocados.

Grapes were the most demanded product, with a volume of 389,000 tons and a value of $1.056 billion, which meant an average price of $2.71 per kilogram.

Blueberries followed with a volume of 126,000 tons for $1.017 billion, which implied an average cost of $8.05 per kilogram.

Asparagus ranked third, with a volume of 80,100 tons and a value of $296 million, which translated into an average price of $3.69 per kilogram.

Coffee was the fourth most exported product, with a volume of 71,000 tons and a value of $295 million, which meant an average price of $4.16 per kilogram.

Finally, avocados were fifth, with a volume of 93,000 tons for $164 million and an average price of $1.77.

The most used shipping ports to send Peruvian agricultural products to North America were the Callao Port Terminal (59 percent) and the Paita Port Terminal (33 percent), followed by the Paracas Port Terminal (7 percent) and the Jorge Chávez International Airport (1 percent).

Regarding Peruvian agro-exporters, Camposol S.A. stood out, with 3.26 percent of the total; followed by Procesadora Laran S.A.C., with 2.86 percent; Corporación Agrolatina S.A.C., with 2.56 percent; Virú S.A., with 2.36 percent; and Ecosac Agrícola S.A.C., with 2.17 percent.
