• The new Infarm Growing Center is located near Austin, Texas with more than 73,000 sqft in size
• The Center will be equipped with more than 40 000 sqft growing capacity, able to produce more than 2.2 million pounds of salads per year

Seattle, USA, February 9th, 2022 — Infarm, the rapidly growing urban farming company with a global and North American presence, is going to establish a second Growing Center in the U.S. in Kyle, just 20 minutes outside of downtown Austin, Texas.
This marks the first step in the company’s further expansion roadmap for the U.S.: Infarm is planning for up to five additional locations across the U.S., increasing the total size of its growing facilities to over 500 000 sqft. The existing vertical farming facility is located in Seattle, Washington, and was opened in 2019.
Travis Mitchell, Mayor of Kyle, Texas: “We are beyond proud to welcome Infarm to the City of Kyle. Agri-Tech innovations are of growing importance for our food systems and supply. That’s why it’s great to see a global vertical farming leader investing in the region and setting up business in Kyle, creating jobs, and making even more sustainably sourced, fresh, local produce available to our region.”
“The U.S. plays a significant role in our global expansion plans. Opening our next Growing Centre in Texas is strategically important for Infarm as Texas and the region around Austin are high potential markets for our fresh produce. When fully equipped, the Growing Center will be able to feed more than 18 million people living in the Texas Triangle, bringing fresh produce from our controlled, localized systems that minimize climate and supply chain risk by growing food reliably 24/7, 365 days per year close to consumers”, said Erez Galonska, CEO and co-founder of Infarm.
Infarm’s new location will be equipped with several of Infarm’s modular large-scale farming units. They stand up to 33 ft tall and each of them only requires 430 sqft of ground space, producing the crop equivalent of land the size of a soccer field, using 95 % less water and 95% less land compared to traditional soil-based agriculture. To date as part of its worldwide operations, Infarm has saved more than 16 000 000 gallons of water and 600 000 square feet of land.
Infarm has grown tremendously over the last couple of years and continues to do so. Currently present in 11 countries worldwide, Infarm plans to establish 100 growing locations in 20 countries by 2030. In the U.S. and Canada, it has had long-term agreements with major retailers Kroger, Sobeys, Safeway, and Thrifty Foods since 2019 and 2020 respectively.
Founded in 2013, Infarm is the world’s fastest-growing vertical farming company. Partnering with more than 30 of the world’s top retail chains in 11 countries in North America, Asia, and Europe, Infarm’s fresh produce is available in more than 1850 stores worldwide. By 2030 Infarm plans to expand to 20 countries on those three continents and to the Middle East. The company’s product catalogue consists of a variety of more than 75 plants such as herbs, leafy greens, salads, microgreens, and mushrooms, and will soon include strawberries, peppers, cherry tomatoes, and peas. The company’s modular farming systems are highly efficient, capable of growing more than 500 000 plants annually on just 430 sqft of floor space.
In addition to using 95% less land, Infarm requires 95% less water than traditional farming methods and uses no chemical pesticides. So far, Infarm has saved more than 30 million gallons of water, 1.9 million sqft of land, and nearly two million food miles with its production methods. Infarm has committed to setting a science-based net-zero carbon target through The Science Based Targets initiative. Infarm’s operating entities are embedded in a holding company, infarm Indoor Urban Farming B.V, which is registered in The Netherlands. For more information, please visit www.infarm.com.
