Brooks Tropicals Announces the Retirement of Janice Kolar, Chief Financial Officer

Janice started with Brooks Tropicals BB #:110555 26 years ago as controller then was promoted to CFO in 2008. She has played a crucial part in the growth of a company that has a diverse line of tropical fruits and vegetables that the company grows across the Caribbean, Central, and South America. Brooks Tropicals’ produce is distributed to retailers and wholesalers across North America.

Ms. Kolar is looking to move to Central Florida to be nearer to friends. With volunteering being high on her bucket list, she also hopes to devote more time to other interests.

Brooks Tropicals Promotes Tracy Cash to Chief Financial Officer

Tracy takes over as CFO at the start of 2021. She’s been with Brooks Tropicals for over 8 years as Controller running the day-to-day accounting operations of a company whose interests spans the hemisphere. Tracy has been a CPA since 1997 and has experience at NBC and 15 years in the fresh produce business.

Ms. Cash’s father is in agriculture, we’ve yet to see if her 19-year-old son joins the family tradition.

Brooks Tropicals Hires Mark Akinmade as Controller

Mark’s financial experience with non-profit and manufacturing should bode well with such a diverse company such as Brooks Tropicals. Taking over the reins as controller, Mark will handle the complex financial work that addresses the needs of our growers, packers, distributors, sellers, and various service providers. Mark has been a CPA for 4 years.

Originally from Maryland, Mr. Akinmade moved to Miami with his wife 3 years ago. He has a son and two daughters.

Brooks Tropicals Promoted Raul Garcia to Assistant Controller

Raul has worked at Brooks for over 11 years as Purchased and Consigned Fruit Manager. Starting in September as Assistant Controller, Raul added new accounting departments to his supervisory work. Raul recently achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Finance.

Mr. Garcia was born and raised in Miami-Dade where he continues to live with his wife and 2 children.
