Crook Brothers Acquires Corey Brothers Consolidating Produce Strength and Growth in West Virginia While Keeping Service and Customer Focus Strong

Crook Brothers of Beckley, West Virginia has announced the acquisition of Corey Brothers of Charleston, West Virginia, effective August 31 , 2017. President Kenneth Crook said, “The
transaction will immediately give Crook Brothers a greater ability to service WV and its surrounding five state region where national contracts can be better served”.

Operating Structure and Leadership

Corey Brothers will operate as a standalone Crook Brothers subsidiary and continue with “business as usual”, with all facets of current management and Employee responsibilities intact, to provide continued continuity in freshness, quality, food safety and service. To clarify further on “business as usual” in that Corey Brothers will remain as Corey Brothers with all elements intact after closing with all Corey Brothers procedures, personnel, routes, customers, and billing procedures exactly the same as before with no changes except that of a new stockholder. Corey Brothers previous owner, Bob Corey will remain during the transition and will be of counsel on an on-going basis to both companies.

Crook Brothers, led by Kenneth and Keith Crook, will work closely with Corey Brothers management team and personnel to realize the full growth potential of the combination of companies.

Corey Brothers produce tradition and roots go back to 1895, marketing and selling produce since 1917, and is a Produce Industry 4 Star, Business Character Award, Produce for Better Health Champion Company.

Crook Brothers was established in 1989 with the Crook Family Produce Tradition dating decades earlier. The combination of both companies is a win-win for West Virginia with a greater produce presence in the produce industry and with sales, profits and employee opportunities remain in West Virginia versus leaving the state.
