Liberty Fruit Golf Benefits Children’s Charity

KANSAS CITY, MO. – Liberty Fruit Company raised more than a quarter million dollars for charity at its annual golf tournament.

The event, in its 18th year, raised $260,000, of which $215,000 went to Children’s Mercy Hospital. Over the years, the company has raised more than $4 million for charity.

President Allen Caviar said the field was made up of customers, vendors and friends of the Kansas City, Kan.-based produce wholesale company.

A full field of 144 golfers teed it up at The National Golf Club in Kansas City, Mo., Sept. 17.

CEO John McClelland, who joined Liberty Fruit in May, said his first tournament was successful because of all the company’s great relationships.
