AFF hosted its sixth Safe Fruit & Veggies farm tour in 2023.
The Alliance for Food and Farming’s (AFF) 2024 Safe Fruits and Veggies Farm Tour will take place from August 12-14 on California’s Central Coast.
The tour will feature strawberries, citrus and vegetable crops as well as highlight tech innovations on farms and in packing facilities.
These tours provide nutrition communicators and social influencers a firsthand look at the care and commitment by farmers and farming companies to grow, harvest and deliver safe and nutritious fruits and vegetables to consumers.
The 2024 tour guests are contributors to Good Morning America, The Today Show, Washington Post, ABC News, Food and Wine, PopSugar, CNBC, Vogue, Southern Living, Parents, EatingWell, Food Network, Shape, Forbes, among others.
In addition to their significant reach in mainstream media, they have millions of combined followers on social media.
The AFF’s list of tour guests include: Steph Grasso, Samar Kullab, Angela Lemond, Carolyn O’Neil, Kylie Sakaida, Ayat Sleymann, Dalina Soto, and Caroline Thomason.
This is the seventh tour conducted by the AFF since 2017. This year’s tour will begin with a visit to a strawberry farm on August 13 to see harvest and pest control technologies.
Next AFF guests will visit the Cal Poly Strawberry Center and learn more about the center’s work to increase the sustainability of California’s strawberry industry through research and education. Guests will view ongoing research into pest and disease control strategies as well as other tech advancements.
The next day will feature Limoneira Company citrus groves and their packing facility. Limoneira will also host a lunch and roundtable discussion for AFF guests.
Our final stop will be to Terry Farms, a 125-year-old farming company, to tour a bell pepper field and view harvest.
The AFF extends our sincere thanks to the sponsors who are making this tour possible including the California Strawberry Commission the International Fresh Produce Association, and Western Growers Association.
Sponsor representatives will participate in all aspects of the tour to provide their expertise and information to the AFF guests.
We often say we wish every consumer could see the diligent work of fruit and vegetable farmers and their commitment to food safety.
These tours provide the opportunity to share that work with influencers who reach millions of consumers through their websites, articles, media appearances, blogs, books, podcasts and social media channels.
The guests will communicate their on-farm experiences with their audiences during and after the tour. So stay tuned for social posts and blogs from our guests, sponsors and the AFF next week at @safeproduce.
