JP Sullivan hires field manager

AYER, Mass. – May 16, 2023 — JP Sullivan BB #:386455, packer, shipper and marketer of fresh apples from the Eastern U.S., announces the addition of John Russell as their newest Field Manager.

Growing up in the apple growing region of Niagara County, John’s family still operates Russell Farms, Inc. today. Like so many after college, John was drawn back to his agricultural roots. Spending a stint at the New York Apple & Cherry Association before going on to three decades with Sun Orchard Fruit Company and Lake Ontario Fruit, Inc in apple packing, sales and business development.

“After more than 30 years on the inside of the apple business – from packing, shipping, marketing and sales, I’ve been fortunate to get to know a number of apple growers in New England and New York,” said John Russell, Field Manager, JP Sullivan. “I look forward to getting to know their operations better and building relationships while being a conduit of information with packing and sales. It feels a bit like coming full circle in my career.”

A short list of the Field Manager’s responsibilities includes grower and packer relations, maintaining packing standards and sourcing fruit, all while providing transparent and honest communications throughout the entire supply chain.

“The Field Manager is a vital role within the apple industry,” said Chuck Yow, President, JP Sullivan. “A Field Manager requires a very hands-on person who can wear a number of hats on any given day. John’s background couldn’t be more ideal. We’re looking forward to the expertise he brings to JP Sullivan and the partnerships in the orchards and packhouses.”

Established in 1925, JP Sullivan is a packer, shipper and marketer of fresh apples from the New England and New York regions. Based in Ayer, Massachusetts, JP Sullivan provides favorites like McIntosh and Cortland apples as well as today’s newer varieties – Honeycrisp, Gala, Ambrosia and Pink Lady under the Yankee brand.
