ota mihalick

January 17, 2023 — The Organic Trade Association (OTA) BB #:162539 is pleased to announce that Peter Mihalick has joined the association as its Senior Director of Government Affairs. In his role, Mihalick will help spearhead OTA’s advocacy efforts in achieving organic priorities in the development of the 2023 Farm Bill and will work with lawmakers and policy makers to advance and grow organic agriculture.

Mihalick has extensive experience in helping to shape policy on Capitol Hill and in the private sector. He most recently served as Associate Director of Policy and Regulatory Affairs at the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) and Vice President for the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA).

He has spent close to a decade working in agriculture policy through staff positions in Congress. During his tenure on the Hill, Mihalick worked for several former and current Members in the House of Representatives, serving as an agriculture, tax, and trade adviser. He is a licensed attorney in both New York and Maryland, and is a proud graduate of Syracuse University and the Hofstra University School of Law.

“I am excited to return to my roots working on agriculture policy,” said Mihalick. “I’m eager to work with my colleagues and other stakeholders to continue the growth of organic agriculture and to build on the gains that organic achieved in the last Farm Bill.”

“Peter’s experience in advocacy and in shaping policy, and his ability to work across the public and private sectors will serve us well,” said Tom Chapman, CEO of the Organic Trade Association. “This is a critical time for organic, and the addition of Peter to our staff will strengthen our efforts to make the voices and perspectives of organic heard and respected.”
