Sun World expands footprint in North America

28 December 2021 Bakersfield, Calif. – Sun World International LLC BB #:172413 today announced it has added a stone fruit marketer and two importers to its panel of North American licensees.

These include stone fruit marketer, Trinity Fruit BB #:161683, and licensed importers, Capespan North America BB #:134340 and Jac. Vandenberg BB #:103960.

The appointments bring the company’s panel of licensed importers to 13 companies; Trinity joins four other California grower-marketers in producing and distributing Sun World stone fruit varieties, further expanding the supply and distribution of Sun World’s proprietary grape and stone fruit varieties.

Capespan North America and Jac. Vandenberg join a select list of Sun World licensed importers in North America, including Camposol Fresh USA, The Oppenheimer Group, Dayka & Hackett, Divine Flavor International, Dole Fresh Fruit Co., Fresh Flavor International, North American Produce Buyers, Summit Produce, Vanguard Direct, William H. Kopke Jr., Inc./Southern Fruit Import Co, and Star Produce.

Each of these companies holds a license to distribute and market Sun World’s full line of proprietary grapes in the United States and Canada from licensed Chilean, Peruvian, Brazilian and South African suppliers.

Trinity is the newest addition to the California variety development company’s stone fruit supply base, joining longstanding Sun World licensees PRIMA® Wawona, Moonlight Companies, Sunwest Fruit Co. and Rivermaid Trading in producing and distributing the firm’s peaches, plums, apricots and nectarines under such brands as BLACK DIAMOND® and HONEYCOT®.

The licenses include the right to utilize the California company’s grape varietal brand trademarks such as AUTUMNCRISP®, MIDNIGHT BEAUTY®, SABLE SEEDLESS®, ADORA SEEDLESS®, and SCARLOTTA SEEDLESS®.

Capespan North America is a leading importer and distributor of a full range of fresh produce including table grapes, citrus, stone fruit and specialty products from South Africa, Peru, Chile, Colombia and Brazil allowing it to supply premium quality, counter-seasonal products to its retail customers in the United States and Canada.

Jac. Vandenberg, Inc. is a full line direct importer of mostly Southern Hemisphere fresh fruit including grapes, citrus, stone fruit, apples, pears and pomegranates. The company imports annually between 8 and 10 million packages from numerous countries, including Chile, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, Spain, Morocco, South Africa, Israel and Australia, fulfilling the needs of the company’s retail client base throughout North America.
