ASOEX revises down Chilean cherry export estimate

Cherries from Chile final

ASOEX has released a second Chilean cherry export estimate for the 2021-2022 season, now estimating that the volume exported this year will be 72,367,963 boxes, or 361,840 tons.

These new figures reflect an increase of 2.6 percent in relation to the previous season but a 6.6 percent decrease in relation to the first estimate given in November.

Ronald Bown, President of ASOEX, was quoted by Simfruit, saying, “China will continue to be the main destination for Chilean cherries this season, although a decrease in its share is expected, going from 91 percent to 88 percent, which indicated an increase in other markets, and therefore, the interest of the industry for increasing the diversification of destinations for our cherries.”

This forecast will be the last that ASOEX will make for this season. However, ASOEX will release any significant changes if necessary.
