Raley’s names director of produce and floral

PRESS RELEASE: Michael Schutt has been promoted to Director, Produce & Floral for Raley’s Family of Fine Stores BB #:114741. Michael will be responsible for maintaining the Produce & Floral department sales and net margin targets, as well as developing his continued leadership role of a talented Merchant and Quality Control team.

Michael joined the company in 1986, in a town that for most part was nothing more than a gas stop — Winnemucca, Nevada. With Raley’s expanding in the Bay Area in the early 90s, Michael made a big move geographically to be part of the opening of our Fremont store as Assistant Produce Manager. In 1992 he was promoted to Produce Manager of our Newark store. Michael was hired onto the Produce Buying team in 1997 as a Quality Control inspector and relief buyer where he spent the next 7 years before being promoted to Produce Category Merchant in 2004. In 2017 he was elevated to Sr. Category Manager of Produce & Floral.

Michael has been instrumental over the years with his valuable contribution to grow our Organic Produce Program that the company began testing in 1997. Michael is well-known and respected across the industry and currently serves on the Executive Board of the Fresh Produce and Floral Council.
