Sunrise Logistics expands staff to meet growth plans

Over the past 12 months, Sunrise Logistics, Inc. (SLI) BB #:192796 Ephrata, PA, has been acquiring new talent and promoting from within the organization, lending to record-breaking growth in 2019, and setting the stage for continued success for the supply-chain experts in 2020.

“Sunrise Logistics has been building its capability over the past few years by investing in people and technology,” stated Director of Transportation, Chad Ogden, when asked to share his sentiments on the organization’s growth.

“Relying on our three pillars of People, Process, and Technology, we are now positioned to become the most capable family-owned, nationwide 3PL and Transportation provider in the produce industry. “

NEW HIRES
John Consugar, Logistics Account Manager, joined SLI in August 2019. John brings with him extensive account management experience from Ryder, which strengthens his ability to focus on Sunrise’s Managed Transportation programs.

As support to the Transportation Brokerage team, Specialist Nate Eberly came on board in September 2019.

Anne Brubaker was added to SLI in November 2019, bringing her vast customer service expertise to the Logistics Account Manager role as she oversees warehouse services for key accounts.

PROMOTIONS
Laura Devonshire was promoted in December 2019 from Specialist to Transportation Manager. In this position, she will oversee the LTL team. Laura has been with the Four Season of Family of Companies BB #:103701 since 2010 and joined Sunrise Logistics in 2016, bringing with her a diverse understanding of the business to the role.

After showing mastery within the LTL team, Allison Favila transitioned to the Logistics Specialist role in January 2020. In this position, Allison has been able to fully develop and strengthen the Full Truckload team.

Alex Boeckman made the jump from Coordinator to Logistics Specialist in December of 2019, and is now a part of the after-hours team for freight brokerage.

Chris Bohn joined Sunrise Logistics as an Account Manager for Warehouse Services, and within 10 months was elevated to a new role within the organization as Strategic Accounts and Business Development Manager. Transitioning to the Freight Brokerage team, he is now charged with maintaining vital existing partnerships. Within this role, he will identify new ways to strengthen their business, utilizing SLI’s increasing capacity and technology tools. We very much look forward to the impact he makes on the growth of Sunrise Logistics.

Earning the title role of Logistics Account Manager, Matt Burkholder initially was hired as an Operations Planner at Four Seasons Produce, when he made the jump to sister company Sunrise Logistics in 2018 as a Coordinator. Proving his aptitude Matt has been promoted twice to Specialist to his now Account Manager position where he will tasked with managing a team of four associates while providing a high level of service and care to key grower-shipper accounts.

In November 2019, Shaun Mains was been promoted to Transportation Application Manager. He and his team will continue to collaborate effectively with IT. We look forward to gaining even more traction with business and customer solutions as this group, along with IT support, continues to strengthen their systems, business knowledge, and working relationships.

LEADERSHIP
As these new and promoted associates came into their roles, strategic placement of senior leadership needed to be built around them to ensure their success.

The first key hire was Matt Patterson, Senior Transportation Manager, who joined Sunrise in July 2019. Matt brings with him years of experience, having previously worked at Penske and C.H. Robinson, overseeing the brokerage team of twelve associates and managers.

Matt took over for incumbent, Kevin Bender, who will now focus on newly formed Support Services department to automate and improve our administrative functions, which is a critical step to ensuring long term growth for Sunrise Logistics. As the Senior Manager of Support Services, Kevin will oversee all information technology, business intelligence, legal affairs and risk management.

Anny Chaleunsouk-Jones stepped into the Senior Operations Manager role in December 2019. Initially hired as an Account Representative, Anny worked her way up from Account Manager to Operations Manager and then to her current senior leadership role over a 10 year span with Sunrise Logistics.

With investment of new technology and increased capacity, SLI needed to form a Business Development department to utilize their expanding capabilities to service the produce industry. Since October 2019, Lauren Del Rosario has been tapped to spearhead this task. As the Senior Business Development Manager, Lauren’s primary focus is to lead the sales and marketing team in identifying new freight and transportation opportunities.

Her 14 years of sales experience representing growers, shippers and produce distributors will allow her to bring a laser focus to creating logistics programs to the ever-changing dynamics of the fresh supply chain.

“Developing talent has always been a long-standing value throughout the organization,” stated Rob Kurtz, Vice President & General Manager, as he reflected on the key additions to the company.

“The ability to promote from within and to bring in new talent puts us in a position to support strategic growth plans. It’s very exciting to see how capable the Sunrise Logistics has become in developing and executing effective supply chain solutions for our fresh produce and fresh food customers.”
