CHICAGO—Before releasing the balloons and beach balls to signal the lead up to next year’s United Fresh Convention in San Diego, there was one more award to present.
Five winners in the Retail Produce Manager Awards went home even happier, with a $1,000 grand prize check awarded at a party to celebrate the close of United Fresh 2019.
The Retail Produce Manager Awards were much more visible this year, inviting the full convention and expo attendance into the celebration, with photos of the winning produce managers displayed in the McCormick Place concourse.
And the winners were:
- Michael Sockett, Gelson’s Market, Valley Village, CA;
- Elaine Fong, Calgary Co-op, Calgary, AB;
- Roman Teig, Hy-Vee Inc., Omaha, NE;
- Baryn Hagood-Lund, Safeway Inc., Everett, WA; and
- David Scarlett, Food City/K-VA-T, Knoxville, TN.
