OPS workshop explores wholesalers’ role in organic

PRESS RELEASE The role of wholesalers and distributors of organic fresh produce continues to change as the dynamics of production, supply chain and consumers evolve. Three of North America’s largest and most progressive wholesale distributors will discuss the changing landscape, opportunities and challenges they see for organic fresh produce at the Organic Produce Summit, July 10-11 in Monterey, CA.

Moderator:
Mark Munger, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, 4Earth Farms, Los Angeles
Mark has an extensive background in fresh produce, previously serving as Vice President of Marketing for Andrew Williamson Fresh Produce and Director of Marketing for Driscoll’s. Mark has also been Director of the Retail Division of PMA.

Panelists:
Greg Kurkjian, Vice President and General Manager, The Crosset Company, Independence, KY
Greg has been involved in various aspects of the produce industry for over 20 years. He has been Vice President of Retail Sales for IFCO and Mann Packing, and served as a division Vice President for Ready Pac Foods.

Elizabeth Nardi, CEO, Organically Grown Company, Eugene, OR
Prior to joining OGC, Elizabeth spent two decades in retail grocery operations at New Seasons Market, and in organic policy and advocacy. She has also worked on the historic National Organic Foods Production Act, the Pure Food Campaign and Center for Food Safety.

Mark Hill, Director of Organic Produce, Baldor, New York
Mark has spent the past 14 years handling sales and procurement of organic produce for Baldor Foods, one of the largest importers and distributors of organic foods in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic region.
