PMA scheduled for SXSW session

The Produce Marketing Association attended last year’s South by Southwest conference in Austin, TX, to learn and raise awareness for the role fresh produce and floral play in food culture.

After that conference, CEO Cathy Burns started on a mission to get the Newark, DE-based organization on the stage at the 2019 conference.

PMA hosted a Global Street Farm at SXSW in 2018. This year, the group is an official panelist at the conference, which hosts more than 500,000 attendees annually.

Burns announced this week on LinkedIn the mission is accomplished.

“It’s not just about being on stage and delivering a message,” Burns said, in a video announcement. “It’s really about leading conversations as it relates to food and culture – fruits and vegetables in culture – that is so important to provide a beacon to our industry.”

The panel, “Tap Primal Instincts to Fuel Your Food Movement,” features PMA’s Lauren Scott, Adam Cooper of The Wonderful Co., Lisa Cork of Fresh Produce Marketing Ltd., and Stephen Springfield, of Sentient Decision Science.

It’s scheduled for March 20 at 11 a.m. at the J.W. Marriott Salon AB in Austin, TX.
